I have always
loved to draw and drew compulsively, as a child, even before I could read. It was many years before I was able to go to art college but I graduated, as a mature student, from Exeter
College of Art and Design in 1989, with an honours degree in Fine Art. I had specialised in sculpture but soon
recognised that I really wanted to explore paint.
You never finish learning!
My painting style is
not about detail - but more about colour light and atmosphere. I leave room for the viewer's own imagination to set to work. Every viewer will see something different, bringing their own imagination to what I have painted, or drawn.
Canals have been
a life-long love and a favourite subject, but I also paint Landscape, still-life, figures and
portraits. Oil paint has been my main medium but I also use watercolour, pen and ink
and Drawing is the foundation of all of it. Lately I have begun to have prints made, from my water colour drawings. There will be more of these to come!
I belong to The Guild of Waterway Artists, you will find a link to them on the Links page.
I sometimes show paintings at Audlem Mill, in Cheshire Again, you will find a link to them on the Links page.
